Mr. Terry L. Smith is the eleventh child of fourteen, and was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana’s Cooper Road/MLK neighborhood. He’s the son of  Deacon Eugene Smith of Belcher, Louisiana and Willie Mae (Priss) Washington-Smith (Deceased) of Oil City, Louisiana, in which the funeral home got its name, “Washington’s and Smith’s Paradise Funeral Homes.” His early education included Newton Smith Elementary, Linear Jr. High School, and Green Oaks High School.  After graduating from high school in 1990, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Security Policeman and Medical Technician.

 

He’s a 1998 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. He served his Apprenticeship, and later as a Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer, for Lockwood, Paradise, Carl Barnes, and Cristo Rey Funeral Homes in Houston, Texas.  

 

His siblings are: Jimmie Marie Washington-Hill, Ella Mae Washington (Deceased), Cynthia Tyson-Harris (Deceased), Donald G. Washington Sr., Travis E. Smith, Sondra Smith, Tondra Smith-Tyner, Calvin R. Smith, Shelia J. Smith-Taylor, Randy L. Smith, Gregory W. Smith, Causey Smith-Nash, and Rev. Trenton M. Smith Sr.; Wife: Kenya Smith; Children: Tiara N. Smith and Terry L. Smith II; God-Parents: Pastor Barry & Sis Lenora Kimble.
